Terrorists Attempting To Escape To Cameroon, Chad Captured By Army

On Thursday, Nigerian military have issued a statement saying they have apprehended a group of terrorists who tried to escape to neighbouring Cameroon through Taraba and Adamawa states' borders.
According to Maj.-Gen. Chris Olukolade, the Director, Defence Information and Coordinator of Joint Information Centre, Counter terrorism Campaign, the insurgents were captured by troops who partolled he areas.
Maj.-Gen. Olukolade said the terrorists could no longer bear the hunger at their make-shift camps at the forest. They led the soldiers to their hideouts where fighting ensued. Seven terrorists were killed, a number of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), rifles and 70 motorcycles recovered in the course of the operation.
Maj.-Gen. Olukolade also said a similar encounter in Gumbi led to death of four other insurgents.
In a similar development, a heavily-armed suspected terrorist with dual nationalities of Chad and Burkina-Faso was captured by the officers of the Joint Task Force along the Chad border. The suspect possessed different calibre of arms and ammunition.
The defence spokesman said members of the task force were patrolling areas around the Lake Chad, including Kwatan, Kanwa, Kwatan Yobe and other areas to apprehend more of the insurgents.
