A 32-year-old man raped 10-year-old niece in a mosque
According to reports by Vanguard, the suspect allegedly took his niece to where he lived along Lagos-Abeokuta express road, to help ease the burden on her mother after the demise of his brother in 2012.
While the victim lived with her uncle, between 2013 and 2014, he was allegedly defiling her. She was however taken by her mother, known as Iya Tope to live with her grandmother in Okunola area in Egbeda.
The suspect went on a visit to the grandmother's house. He took the little girl to the mosque and raped her.
The victim had sustained injuries in her private part, as a result of the rape and so had difficulty in walking. The difficulty with which the victim walked, made a female neighbour suspicious. She then beckoned on the victim’s mother to check what was wrong with her child.
The victim confessed to her mother that her uncle raped her in mosque and had been doing this throughout her stay in his place.
Immediately, the mother reported the case to Gowon Divisional Police Station and the suspect was arrested. The case is currently being investigated by the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Yaba,
