Exclusive: Lagos APC Aspirants Set To Boycott Primaries, Reject's Tinubu's Candidate


 The aspirants in a letter to the National Working Committee of their party frowned at the decision of the leadership of the Lagos state APC party to adopt a consensus candidate through an indirect primary election.They called on the national leadership of the party to suspend the indirect primaries scheduled to hold tomorrow describing it as in variance to the electoral act.

They advised the party leadership to move quickly to save the situation in order to  avert tension, litigations and agitations which they said could cause disaffection within the party and ultimatley cost the party electoral victory in the 2015 gubernatorial election in the state.Naij.com gathered that the aspirants are also mulling the idea of boycotting the primaries incase their demands are not met by the NWC of their party. They are said to have the backing of Governor Babatunde Fashola.
The aspirants who signed the letter include the speaker of the Lagos state House of Assembly, Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, Senator representing Lagos West, Senator Ganiyu Solomon, former commissioner for health, Dr. Leke Pitan, former attorney-general of Lagos state, Mr. Olasupo Shasore, commissioner for works, Mr. Obafemi Hamzat and former chairman of Ibeju-lekki and two term commissioner, Dr Tola Kasali among others.Former Accountant General of Lagos state, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode is reportedly the choice of Tinubu to replace Governor Fashola in Alausa.

It will be recalled that Governor Babatunde Fashola and his predecessor, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu are currently at logger heads over who will succeed the former. While Governor Fashola is reportedly gunning for either Hamzat or Shashore, Tinubu is reportedly hell-bent on installing Ambode as the governor.
