According to the protesters, they move against the imposition of course registration fee, Sahara Reporters provides.
They
said the institution management shut the school portal against
registration and started demanding first N10,000, then N15,000 and soon
even N20,000 - all within several days.
One of the protesters
revealed that poor technical capability of students’ portal and the
attitude of the personnel at the institution's IT center resulted in
late registration for the new semester.
Claiming that ban on their
Students Union imposed in 2005 would not prevent them for protesting
against oppressive policies, the students didn't show intention to stop.
"If
they do not immediately re-open the portal for registration, this will
be a springboard to demand lifting the unacceptable ban on the students’
union government."
