Court Dissolves Marriage Over Sexual Starvation

The eight-year-old marriage between one David Omodiminiyi and his wife, Nike, was on Monday dissolved by an Ibadan Customary Court sitting at Mapo for alleged sexual starvation and loneliness claimed by the wife.

Divorce De Henry Agbaje, the presiding judge explained that it was mandatory to take the decision of ending the relationship due to the irreconcilable differences between the man and his wife, adding that efforts to make Nike not to quit the marriage through out of court settlement proved abortive.
Agbaje while referring to Omodiminiyi’s testimony said the husband had earlier told the court that he made several efforts to make peace with her but to no avail.
Delivering the verdict, Agbaje said: “I hereby put an end to the union between both of you henceforth. Omodiminiyi shall be paying a monthly feeding allowance of N5, 000 for the upkeep of the two children” Agbaje stated.
Nike, while narrating her ordeal to the court earlier, alleged that her husband had turned her to an unused spare tyre in her matrimonial home.
“He had married a first wife before I got married to him and he is giving her all the sexual satisfaction. I can no longer endure the loneliness and sexual starvation. He doesn’t need me; he is just helping to waste my life away. Though I have two children for him, I am determined to move on” Nike said.
Omodiminiyi, who argued that he didn’t abandon her, said: “I have done all I could to satisfy and pacify her, but she has remained adamant” he said.
