Luis Enrique
Latest reports from Spain indicate that recently appointed Barcelona manager, Luis Enrique has been rushed to a hospital to undergo surgery on Monday afternoon.
According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, the 44-year-old was rushed to an emergency room in serious discomfort before undergoing tests that confirmed that he is suffering from appendicitis..
Enrique, who played for the Spanish giants between 1996 and 2004, was appointed as the club's first team manager on a two-year deal last month.
It was gathered that the Spaniard will have routine surgery to remove his appendix, which is unlikely to keep him out of action for too long.
It is believe he could leave hospital after just 24 hours if the procedure is a success and there are no complications.
The former Celta Vigo boss will be keen to get back to work as soon as possible in order for him to continue to shape the Catalans ahead of the new season.
Few days ago, defenders, Gerard Pique and Javier Mascherano, signed new deals to stay at the club, while Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic is believed to be closing in on a move to the Nou Camp.
Enrique looks likely to be without Cesc Fabregas next season as Chelsea continue their pursuit of the £30million-rated star.
