Atiku said in politics he had opponents, but no enemies as "politics is not war".
The ex-VP thanked the NYLF for mediating peace between him and Obasanjo, adding that this effort had marked the leaders of the youth organisation as serious-minded people who are fully prepared to take over the leadership of Nigeria.

Prior to the audience with Atiku, NYLF met Obasanjo in Ota, who announced back than that he had forgiven his former VP. Abubakar was Obasanjo’s VP between 1999 and 2007, and was believed to have scuttled the third-term ambition of Obasanjo in 2006.
The NYLF National Chairman Comrade Eliot Afiyo expressed happiness and satisfaction with the joint decision by both Obasanjo and Atiku to accede to their request to bury the hatchet, adding that this is a development that will go a long way in healing the rift in the country.
